October means Halloween over at Dragons Lair Designs.

I wonder if anyone has missed me as I have been so long from blogland, after a spell of bad health I have found my way back...
why oh why do I find blogging so difficult. Yes I know....because I don't do enough of it.

Anyway, here I am and it is in official DT mode...October is here (my this year is whizzing by!!!) and that means Halloween over at the Dragons Lair Challenge Blog

I have been having trouble with my hands recently and so my offering is slightly skew whiff and the colouring could be better but here it is...

Only the one photo I am afraid as the batteries went in my camera.

While my hands have been playing up I have been doing more digital work using Serif's Craft Artist 2 which I love using but this time I wanted to make an actual card again, it has been too long since I have cut and glued and coloured..

I still used CA2 to make the background using Trick or Treat papers and incorporating the Spooky Tree, Sam the Vamp and the Interview with the Vampire wording...I decided to make it look like a cinema poster...well sort of
like one!

Having printed the background out, I coloured Sam and the title with promarkers and then added the Coming Soon and Starring labels that I had also made with CA2. The tree I had enhanced with black metallic Sakura pen and a bit of clear nail varnish, I also put the nail varnish on Sam's glasses lenses, you would have to be close to see that though...

The eagle eyed might notice the film company's name at the top...I will point out for anyone in doubt...this is fictional.

All the images I used can be found in the

and I would love it if you would visit the

Thank you for taking the time to visit, I really appreciate it...

Better Late than Never....DLD August...Three of a Kind

Thanks to a lot of trouble with both my computer and my health, I am very late with the Dragons Lair Designs August Challenge but I got there in the end!!!

The challenge is 'Three of a Kind' and I decided that the best things that can come in threes would be babies...and so I went for a card for new triplets. What to use for it was easy...one of Dragons Lair Designs newer kits...Oh Baby Mine...

Keeping in the three theme, this is a trifold card, I took the kit into Craft Artist 2 and used my favourite technique of adding the digital stamp (this time used thrice) to colour after printing the page. If the colouring goes wrong I just print the whole page again. I love the way a flat page doesn't look flat. The picture above, to state the obvious, is the front..

...and this is the back. I stuck with the three theme with the feathers and once again this was all done digitally...

This is the right side front....guess what...three butterflies and all digital.

Here is the inside, two matching sides and a sentiment in the middle.

The sentiment in the centre is the one thing that is not from the Oh Baby Mine Kit....this is from the Baby Sentiments, one of a whole set of great quotes etc for your baby cards and scrapbook pages, again Dragons Lair Designs.

Finally we have a close up of the inside page, mirrored on the opposite side.

I really hope you like this card, you can see the other DTs lovely designs on the CHALLENGE BLOG and all the kits I have used can be found in the DLD STORE.

Thank you so much for popping by, I really appreciate it.

Love and hugs, Sarah x

Let's Dance over at Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog

I'm late, I'm late for a very important date...

This month has been incredibly pants and I have been on a constant catch up and then after getting up at some obscenely early hour this morning to get blogs done on time...my pc went into hissy fit mode closely followed by a VERY long upload, so please imagine that you are looking at this at 8 o'clock in the morning.

The theme at Dragons Lair Designs Challenge this month is 'let's dance'...I had some words going around in my head and thought I would go off at a bit of a tangent to the theme.

I am not sure if I heard, saw or was told this phrase, if it isn't the product of my own brain then I apologise to the author.

' Butterflies Dance to the Song of the Sun'

I used papers from the Deco Daze collection in the STORE and took them into Craft Artist 2 to make the backing with the phrase as the centre point.  I used one of the DigiBoss files from CA2 to give the impression of embossed butterflies on the top paper.

I then die cut several butterflies from more Deco Daze papers and stuck them on as if in the middle of their dance, not that there is much sun around.

I do hope you like this card and thank you so much for stopping by....

Love and Hugs xx

A Bouquet of Flowers at Dragons Lair Designs

So here we are, May Day and here in Ireland they start their Seasons a month earlier than back home in the UK...
which means that Summer should be here...

after a short heatwave we are back to rain, hail showers and cold winds, the sun is still managing to break through every now and again though.

There are flowers and blossom appearing everywhere, now that I am walking the dog each day, I can actually see them grow and open.

The theme for Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog this month is an appropriate
Bouquet of Flowers...

For my main image I used 'Flowers for Mum', I think that our friends in the States have their Mother's Day this month and so it seemed a good choice...

I have been practicing more with Craft Artist 2 and my favourite way of crafting at the moment is to make up my own card sheets. I assemble the card digitally and then group together what I want the base layer to be, group the image and any frame etc I want around it (I leave the image uncoloured ready for my promarkers), the image is then moved to the side of the background and any embellishments added to the sheet.
For this card the base is 2 Oh Baby Mine papers and a ribbon, the image is a punched digi and a punched frame (we are talking digital punching...I love what can be done with it) and then there is a vase of pansies from the Pansy Collection from last month at DLD...

The next step was to colour the image, Promarkers at the ready, I tried to pick out the colours from the pansies and the papers. Having forgotten to add a shadow to the frame, I used a grey promarker to try and make it look a bit more frame like...

Then it was just a case of attacking some foam pads and putting the whole thing together...

So there we are, I hope you like the finished card. All the elements on the card can be found HERE in the Dragons Lair Designs Store. If you would like to enter the challenge, please drop on by to the CHALLENGE BLOG and you can see the beautiful projects done by my fellow design team members...

Thank you so much for visiting, I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful long weekend and I hope to see you back here soon.

Love and Hugs...

Add an Animal at Dragons Lair Designs

This is going to have to be a quick blog today.....thank goodness for that I hear you say....don't get too excited though as there is a new blog in the pipeline, I set myself a challenge and am starting a new blog 'A Dragon a Day keeps the Blues Away'. The blog will be all about the variety in Dragons Lair Designs...

Back to this blog and the latest challenge over at the Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog which is to Add an Animal.
Despite having welcomed a new rescue dog into the family, I have used cats as my theme...

I have used Sleeping cat image which I used CA2 to put a frame around (I used an old DLD mini kit called Cat Elements...I think) and then used some elements from Animal Magic-Cat mini kit.
The image was coloured with promarkers using just greys and then using a Royal Blue muted with the blender pen for the background.
Everything was then layered onto a card blank which had been covered with a background paper from the Oh Baby Mine Collection.

So there we go... a simple little card but I hope an effective one. Please pop over to the Dragons Lair Designs Challenge Blog to see what the other members of the Design Team have been up to and watch out for my new blog arriving after Easter...

Thank you for dropping by, I do love visitors, love and hugs and have a blessed Easter xx

More than Two Folds at Dragons Lair Designs...

Happy March everyone....my time of year where being MAD is normal...

The challenge for the month is 'More than Two Folds' over at the Dragons Lair Designs blog...
this has actually become a rather special challenge for me.

I knew which papers I wanted to use...
...and I knew where my folds were going to come from but I needed something extra to go with them.
This is where I went to the Queen of the Dragons herself and asked for a tea set, elegant, posh tea party type of thing.
Eee by gum she excelled herself, not one but two tea sets and everyone else realised they were something special as they fell over their feet to use them....

I suppose you would like to see the card now...

This is the closed card using paper folded wings for the butterflies and making their bodies with black gems and drawn in antennae.

Here is is open, showing the amazing tea set backed with a doiley with a sneaky extra couple of folds...

The tea set in close up....this digital stamp comes as either the complete TEA SET or individual tea pot and tea cup...this is the floral version, there is also an Art Nouveau version.
I stamped the individual designs onto one of the Subtle Pastel papers and then coloured it with promarkers that matched the papers. I glazed it with Pinflair Glaze, I prefer to use clear nail varnish but I had run out (it doesn't darken the colours as much as the pinflair does)

Having done a couple of each stamp I then cut out them out and decoupaged them together and stuck them onto a doiley...

I had used panels of the papers on the card and then used a plainer paper to make the butterfly wings and finished them with the black gems and drawn antennae.

I really enjoyed making this and it would be great if you could pop over to the DRAGONS LAIR DESIGNS CHALLENGE BLOG and see what my fellow Design Team members have been up to.

Thank you so much for visiting, it brings a smile to my face, love and hugs until the next time. Sarah x

Crafting Musketeers....Ribbons and Pearls with Crafty Ribbons

And so begins another month
which means
another challenge...

The challenge over at the Crafting Musketeers Blog this month is 'Ribbons and Pearls' and it is really kindly being sponsored by  Crafty Ribbons

With a selection of ribbons supplied by Crafty Ribbons I had to decide which to use and what with and how to use them...well, pearls always suggest vintage to me and some of my favourite vintage images are some ladies by Dragons Lair Designs so I chose one of those and some papers also from DLD...

I coloured and then cut around the lady using complimentary promarker colours to the chosen papers, I cut a lacy doiley shape from one paper a slightly smaller fancy edged shape from another paper and then layered them onto a third paper...

Then it was a decision about which ribbon and what to do with it...I liked two with black polka dots on but one seemed a bit light and the other a bit dark...pens are so much easier to blend...blend...let's try and blend ribbon. As children we used to make tiny twisted decorations using kitchen foil strips, I thought I could try it with ribbon. Using a strip of each colour I started with holding them together at right angles and then keeping the angle the same I concertinered them...shaped them into a circle and tied an extra bit of ribbon at the bottom...and then stuck the lady onto the ribbon 'wreath'...

The finishing touches were a rhinestone on her ring, small pearl around her neck and around the inner shape of the papers and larger pearls in the corners of the card....

I do hope you have liked this card and will go and see what all the other DTs have done over at the Crafting Musketeers Blog and join in with your own ribbons and pearls.

Thank you for dropping by, I do appreciate it. Love and hugs Sarah xx
